Water Store Profitability
Like any new business, the water store start-up is slow, requires an earnest effort on your end to make this business successful and thus profitable. By word of mouth and some direct marketing, you will build-up a strong network of loyal customers. Advertize yourself as the water professional in your neighborhood. After all, that’s what you are. That’s what you sell. That’s what you make for a living.
Here’s a small exercise to show how and when your water store can be profitable: on a 3-5 mile radius, let us assume that the population density is 35,000. An average family of 4 consumes 2 gallons a day, or 14 gallons of water every week. You wish to sell one gallon of water for $0.49. If you capture 1% of the market share on the 1st Quarter, you will make close to $2900 every month. If you capture 2% of the market share on the 2nd and 3rd Quarter, you will make close to $5800 every month. If you capture 3% of the market share on the 4th Quarter, you will make close to $8700 every month. Not a bad start for such a small investment.
